National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence

As a school, we have devised a Commitment to Child Safety that promotes our Child Safe Standards.

Kingsley Park Primary School is committed to safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. Kingsley Park Primary School is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. This is regardless of their age, culture, beliefs, socio-economic circumstances, disability, family living situation, child rearing practices or educational level. This will be the primary focus of our care, practice and decision-making. Kingsley Park Primary School has zero tolerance for child abuse; physical, social and emotional including disrespect.

Every person involved in Kingsley Park Primary School has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.

All students, staff and families are expected to commit to this and abide by our expected codes of conduct. As a school, we are committed to a ‘No Tolerance’ of bullying and violence. School is a safe zone that we all need to ensure each and every day. We have been discussing with students the saying ‘These Hands Don’t Hurt’ to emphasise the fact that issues are not resolved through bullying and violence. Verbal abuse will also not be tolerated.

We encourage parents to read our Child Safe Policies on our website and help us to keep all students safe. If there are any issues or concerns, please make the time to speak with your child’s class teacher so things can be resolved. Parents must never approach students to try and resolve matters. Incidents that do occur are dealt with during Restorative Time which is held each lunchtime for incidents by members of the school leadership team. Parents are also expected to approach staff respectfully over incidents.

On Friday 15th March we will be discussing our Commitment to Child Safety with students and what it means. We do our best to understand and eliminate bullying behaviours and hope that you will support us in our endeavours. School is a child’s safety zone at all times. On this day, students will take part in activities from the Bullying, No Way! Website and module assemblies will have a Child safety focus.
